I think you're spot on. Initially, when you get caught in the rain, all you can think about is: "oh man, these are nice clothes" or "my iphone is going to get soaked". But after you get past a certain "breaking point" -- perhaps four or five blocks, you're alright with it and actually end up enjoying yourself. And then the people standing under the awnings look like the odd ones out. They understand what the animal might be feeling, they try to anticipate that animals needs and wants....but the very same people fail to apply that logic to other human beings.
